Türkiye’de Yükseköğretime Geçiş Sistemi : Transition to higher education in Turkey

Abstract

Türkiye gibi, yükseköğretim olanakları sınırlı ve genç nüfus oranı yüksek ülkeler için üniversiteye giriş sınavları, gençlerin geleceğini belirleme ve üniversite öncesi eğitime etkileri bakımından büyük öneme sahiptir. Bu önemi nedeniyle ülkemizde yükseköğretime geçiş, eğitim alanında üzerinde en çok konuşulan konulardan biridir. Ortaöğretimden yükseköğretime geçişte, geçmişte ve günümüzde yaşananları doğru değerlendirebilmek ve geleceğe yönelik rasyonel çözümler üretebilmek için üniversiteye girişte uygulanan sistemin geçmişini bilmek gerekir. Makalede Türkiye’de yükseköğretime geçiş sisteminin kısa bir özeti verildikten sonra, mevcut sistemin olumlu ve yetersiz kaldığı yönleri ele alınmış, bu analizin ardından, yükseköğretime girişte arz talep bilgileri ile yeni arayışlar baş- lığında bazı önerilere yer verilmiştir.

In countries like Turkey, where the youth population percentage is high but the higher education prospects are limited, university and college admission exams are of great importance; because of its impacts on the secondary education or even on earlier stages. Because of this vital importance, “transition to higher education” is one of the hottest topics on education in Turkey. In order to fully understand what was experienced in the transition from secondary education to higher education (in history and nowadays) and to create rational solutions for the future; it’s crucial to know the history of the system applied for university admissions. In the article, after giving some summary on the system of transition to higher education in Turkey, the successful aspects and the shortcomings of the current system is evaluated. And after this analysis, specific recommendations are presented under the topic: new pursuits, supported by supply/demand data.
